In a qualitative study, Humatrix examined the leadership architecture in professional clubs. The aim was to understand how clearly roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes are actually lived out in day-to-day operations.
Our interviews with executives, coaches, and staff revealed several key weaknesses:
Overlapping responsibilities: It is often unclear whether decisions lie with the managing director, sporting director, or head coach.
Power vacuum: In some clubs, important issues remain undecided because no one feels responsible.
Hierarchical disconnects: Formal organizational charts do not match actual practice — decision-making processes are longer and less transparent than assumed.
Conflicts within the coaching staff: Unclear roles between the head coach, assistant coaches, and analysts lead to friction and loss of efficiency.
Different leadership styles: Management and staff sometimes send contradictory signals, which creates uncertainty among employees.
These findings make one thing clear: success in a club does not depend only on players and tactics — it begins with a clear leadership architecture.
Based on these analyses, Humatrix develops tailored solutions:
Clear role profiles and decision-making diagrams that prevent duplication of work
Alignment of organizational charts with the reality of daily practice
Facilitation between leadership levels to reduce conflict
Development of a consistent leadership language across the entire club
Conclusion: Clubs that clarify their understanding of roles gain stability, speed, and trust — at every level.
